Watch: Lady Gaga’s powerful new video
The video highlights the issue of sexual assault on college campuses.
Lady Gaga released her first single, and accompanying music video, of 2015 on Friday. Titled “Till It Happens To You” – the song serves both as part of the soundtrack for the documentary “The Hunting Ground” and as a public service announcement about campus rape.
The striking music video opens with a message for viewers, warning them that it contains depictions of sexual assault, also adding that the video “reflects the reality of what is happening daily on college campuses”. Part of the proceeds received from the sale of the song will be donated to organisations that help survivors of sexual assault.
Shortly after the song’s release, Lady Gaga tweeted:
“Diane Warren & I made ‘Til It Happens To You’ for people all over the world who suffer from painful life experiences.”
“We hope u feel our love & solidarity through the song & perhaps find some peace in knowing u r not alone through this film.”
