Why we love Steve Hofmeyr
Updated | By Charis Apelgren
Over 20 albums, 10 DVDs and thousands of concert tickets later, Steve is one of South Africa's best-selling music stars. Here are five reasons why we love him and why we can't wait to see him at Jacaranda Day.
1) Steve started out on TV as Bruce Beyers in the Franz Marx series, Agter Elke Man. He also reprised this role in the 1990 movie of the same name.
2) In 1997 his music career took off when he recorded a duet for his album True To You with Belgian superstar Dana Winner, called You Don't Bring Me Flowers.
3) Steve won SAMA awards for Best Selling South African Artist in 2003 and 2004.
4) Steve has written 180 songs
5) Besides music and movies, Steve has appeared in the following stage productions: Summer Holiday, Joseph and the amazing technicolour dreamcoat, Die Soen, Sound of Music, Dis Hoe Dit Was - Die Steve Hofmeyr Storie and Lied van my Hart.
Jacaranda Day fans can expect to hear his biggest hits, including Laaste Lag, Agter Elke Man, Ek Ken Jou Soms, Kyk Hoe Lyk Ons Nou, Die Bloubul, Pampoen, FM Stereo and Juliet.
