Elections 2016: Results at 18:00
The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) says the final results of the Local Government Election will only be finalised tomorrow.
"Our projection is that by late evening we would have reached the completion rate of about 90 percent," the IEC's Sy Mamabolo told the media at the IEC's National Results Operation Centre in Pretoria.
Regarding the results of the big metros, Mamabolo said the results for Johannesburg and Tshwane will only be finalised tomorrow.
"The difficulties in the metros are the population densities. It takes longer to count ballots. That must also be balanced against the need to do the necessary verifications, to do the necessary audits," he said.
