A 15-year-old was attacked by a hyena in a camp in the Kruger National Park, authorities confirmed.

According to the Kruger National Park's William Mabasa the teenager was asleep in a tent in the Crocodile Bridge camp when the animal attacked.
"The boy was rushed to hospital after the attack," Mabasa said.
The boy was transferred to the Millpark hospital in Johannesburg after being bitten in the face.
He added that they investigated how the animal could have entered the camp and found that there was a whole in the fence of the camp.

"You know how people feed hyenas bones over the fence? That is how we end up with situations like these.
Mabasa said it's the first time in his 17-years as spokesperson for the KNP that something like this has happened.
"Where do we look for the hyena because they all look the same out there....which one will you be looking for...?" Mabasa reacted to a question from Jacaranda FM News.
He reiterated the call for visitors to the park to refrain from feeding the animals.
