JUDGES MULLING OVER OSCAR APPEAL: A full bench of five Supreme Court Judges will be mulling over the submission by the State Prosecutor in the Oscar Pistorius case, over the next few weeks. They have not given an indication of when they will make their decision known, but it's expected to be before they go on their December break. State Prosecutor, Gerrie Nel only had to convince three of them with his submission yesterday, of why he believes the Pretoria High Court erred in finding him guilty on culpable homicide instead of the murder of Reeva Steenkamp, But, as Maryke Vermaak reports, the court of public opinion has already made up its mind. 

ALLEGED POLICE BRUTALITY TAPE TO BE DISCUSSED: The latest case of alleged SAPS brutality on video tape, will be discussed in parliament today, when the IPID appears before the Police portfolio committee. Yesterday, three police members were remanded in custody until their bail appearance next week, while a fourth was released on bail of five thousand rand after a brief appearance in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's court. The portfolio committee's Francois Beukman says they will also receive another report. 

GOOD NEWS: Fuel in South Africa is cheaper by R 0.22 a litre for 93 octane petrol and between R 0.09 and R 0.10 for diesel. However, even better news is that petrol at R12.08 per litre of 93 Octane petrol, inland, is R 0.90 a litre cheaper than this time last year. Diesel is also R1.00 cheaper than in November 2014. This is the reason given by the Department of Energy's Robert Maake, when the announcement was made.

TWITTER GETS A LIKE BUTTON: Twitter switched out its star tags for hearts Tuesday, in what it hopes will be a user-friendly change to the struggling microblog service, the company said. The change in the icon used to mark another user's tweet from a star - meaning "favourite" - to a heart - meaning "like" - brings Twitter in line with more popular social media services like Facebook and Instagram, which allow users to "like" posts with a thumbs-up and a heart, respectively.

OSCAR WINNING WRITER DIES: British writer and actor Colin Welland, who won an Oscar for the screenplay of "Chariots of Fire", has died aged 81, his family announced Tuesday. He had suffered from Alzheimer's disease for several years and died on Monday night, they said. "Colin will be desperately missed by his family and friends," his family said in a statement. "Alzheimer's is a cruel illness and there have been difficult times but in the end Colin died peacefully in his sleep.

CHAD AND IAN SOON TO BE BESTIES? Australian swimming legend, Ian Thorpe says that Chad le Clos is one of his favourite swimmers and that he would like to go over for a 'barbecue'. Thorpe is in Cape Town where he is speaking as part of the annual World Sports Values Summit for Peace and Development, and Sport24 caught up with him to see how much he fancied South Africa's chances at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Chad responded on twitter with an invitation.
