Eskom apoints new treasurer

Eskom on Thursday appointed Andre Pillay, who has been a senior manager at Eskom Treasury since 2011, as its treasurer with effect from September 1.

Pillay has been responsible for negotiating funding with Export Credit Agencies (ECAs) and Development Funding Institutions (DFIs); the registration and execution of the current Global Medium Term Note (GMTN) and Domestic Medium Term Note (DMTN) and engaging with investors and credit rating agencies.
In a statement, Eskom’s chief financial officer, Anoj Singh said they were pleased to appoint Pillay as the Eskom treasurer.
“He has the requisite experience and knowledge of Eskom and the markets to perform his new role with distinction and enable Eskom to successfully execute its funding program of R327 billion,” Singh said.

Eskom said Pillay has over 15 years’ experience in the Fixed Income Market. He spent five years at National Treasury as chief director responsible for Liability Management before joining the South African Reserve Bank as head of Reserves Management.
