Frank Chikane: "The soul of the ANC is under attack"
Updated | By Maryke Vermaak
ANC stalwart leader Reverend Frank Chikane briefed he media on Thursday morning on a document on the state of the ANC saying that as a veteran member of the party - he is concerned.
The document called "Saving The Soul Of The ANC" was compiled by an ANC member that Chikane said "was in good standing".
Chikane told journalists in Johannesburg after consulting with other veterans it became clear that there is concern about where the ANC is going.
Chikane said that it was necessary to raise concerns within the ranks of the ANC structures and that is exactly what he did.
This comes after Chikane last year warned the ANC that it has reached a point of no return, and faces the real possibility of losing elections unless it owns up to its problems.
Speaking about corruption within the ANC, Chikane added that you can't say the ruling party instructs people to be corrupt, but they know there are corrupt people among them, and they need to deal with them.

"Party policy is clear when it comes to dealing with corruption and although the party has had some great successes, there were failures in some areas," Chikane continued.
Chikane said leaders within the ANC began focusing on members, rather than people.
"The the soul of the ANC is under attack," Chikane said.
