Students urged to remain calm

Student leaders have appealed to those taking part in the #Fees2017 protest to remain calm while protesting.

Earlier police set off stun grenades as hundreds of students took to the streets at Wits University.
Meanhile the National Union of Mineworkers' youth structure has called on President Jacob Zuma to declare free education in the country.

In a statement the NUM-YS wrote:
We call for the President of South Africa honourable Jacob Zuma to declare free education in the country as resolved by the 2007 ANC Polokwane Conference."
The NUM-YS further called for legislation that will force private companies to pay for education stating that they are one who benefit the most.
