SAHRC to investigate motorist's racist rant
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) has confirmed it will investigate a motorist's racist rant which was caught on video.
It says it has not received any formal complaints, but decided to launch an own-initiative investigation into the matter.
SAHRC spokesperson Isaac Mangena says: "We have seen the video and it was really shocking to see the anger and utterances directed towards black people."
In the video the woman is seen hurling racist insults at police and making threats.
She had just been involved in a smash-and-grab incident. A bystander managed to capture her response on film.
eNCA aired the video.
