VIDEO: French gymnast breaks leg during Rio Olympic vault

French gymnast Samir Ait Said suffered a gruesome injury during artistic gymnastics men's team qualification at the Rio Olympics .
The sound of his leg snapping could be heard throughout the arena.
The 26-year-old's left leg folded beneath him as he landed badly during the men's qualification event.
Said, who won gold on the rings at the 2013 European Championships, was taken off on a stretcher and acknowledged the crowd as he departed.
Chad le Clos is due to swim in the 200m freestyle heats at the Olympics later today (Sunday).
