"EFF leaders will occupy strategic ministries”
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Deputy President, Floyd Shivambu says the party’s leadership will occupy key strategic positions after the elections.
Shivambu was speaking to media after he cast his vote at the Moses Kotane Primary School in Braamfischer on Wednesday morning.
He says EFF leader, Julius Malema will also be President.
“Our target now is to win elections. It is not about trying to have coalitions. We are not discussing coalitions, we are discussing victory. You must be asking us about who is going to be in cabinet. Of course the CIC [Commander in Chief] is going to be President, that is what we are going to do, and then we will take the leadership of the EFF and other capable people and give them strategic ministries,” he said.
A recent Institute of Race Relations (IRR) poll predicted that the ANC will not win Gauteng with an outright majority, thus raising the likelihood of a coalition government.
Shivambu says the EFF is confident the ANC will not gain a majority vote.
“We are happy about what we have done so far, we are confident that there won’t be an outright winner nationally and definitely we are going to defeat the ANC here in Gauteng,” he added.
