EFF visits Thabo Mbeki
Updated | By Suné du Toit
EFF leader Julius Malema and the party's leadership paid a visit to former president Thabo Mbeki for an impromptu meeting.
According to Malema, they had interesting discussions about the future of Africa and South Africa.
Following the meeting, Malema told the media that they also discussed who Mbeki would vote for in the upcoming Local Government Elections on Wednesday.
"Former president Mbeki gave us a very, very positive response, because he said his vote is secret. Therefore, we are leaving here confident that the issues raised with him will convince him to do the right thing," Malema said.
Malema said they did not go to Mbeki for an endorsement, but asked for his vote.
"The EFF represents Africanism and the [former] president is an Africanist," Malema said.
