Strong police presence in Vuwani ahead of elections

Safety and security remains a focus around polling stations. In Limpopo, the violence hit Vuwani area has been identified as a potential hotspot on Election Day.
The National Joint Operational and Intelligence Structure (NATJOINTS) is expected to brief the media on the state of readiness by the South African security agencies to secure the 2016 Local Government Elections.

Meanwhile, the police have taken several people into questioning as part of the ongoing investigations regarding the situation in Vuwani.
"The operations are aimed at tracing suspects that are involved on public violence and other related crimes in the area. In the early hours of his morning the task team arrested about four individuals that will be taken in for questioning regarding their involvement in the current violence," the police said in a statement.
