'7de Laan' has taken to Twitter to clarify reports that state its staff have not received pay since August.

On Thursday, 14 October, The Citizen reported that the '7de Laan' cast members have not been shooting or receiving their salaries since August.

This was revealed to the publication through an SMS which they allegedly received from one of the cast members.

"An anonymous SMS from someone who claims to be employed by Danie Odendaal Productions, the production company that helms the popular Afrikaans soapie, says the cast has been on a break since they finished shooting season 22 on 6 August 2021," states the publication.

The whistleblower reportedly also revealed that the SABC is yet to renew '7de Laan’'s contract for season 23.

It is not clear when the contracts will be renewed.

However, a Tweet from '7de Laan''s official page indicates that the cast is back at work.

It also states that the cast members have received their pay for the work done.

"We love and appreciate your fiery support. To be clear- 7de Laan cast and crew have been paid for the contractual period. It is not unusual for breaks inbetween contractual negotiations. We are in negotiations with the Sabc and optimistic that it will all soon be finalised," it wrote.
