Years after their shocking divorce announcement, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have reached a divorce settlement.

"More than eight years ago, Angelina filed for divorce from Mr. Pitt. She and the children left all of the properties they had shared with Mr. Pitt, and since that time she has focused on finding peace and healing for their family," Angelina's lawyer told PEOPLE in a statement.

Angelina filed for divorce from Brad after just two years of marriage, citing "irreconcilable differences". She sought full custody of their six children, Shiloh, Zahara, Maddox, Pax, and twins Knox and Vivienne.

The couple met in 2003 on the set of 'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' while Brad was still married to 'Friends' star Jennifer Aniston.

"Because of the film, we ended up being brought together to do all these crazy things, and I think we found this strange friendship and partnership that kind of just suddenly happened," Angelina told Vogue magazine in an interview.

"I think a few months in I realised, ‘God, I can’t wait to get to work.’ … We just became kind of a pair. And it took until, really, the end of the shoot for us, I think, to realize that it might mean something more than we’d earlier allowed ourselves to believe. And both knowing that the reality of that was a big thing, something that was going to take a lot of serious consideration," the actress added.

Despite rumours about their alleged romance, Brad and Angelina denied an affair. He announced his separation from Jennifer in 2005.

Days after Angelina filed for divorce from Brad in 2016, a report surfaced about an alleged incident on a private plane involving their children.

The pair reached a child custody agreement in late 2018. However, Brad's relationship with his children deteriorated, with his daughter Shiloh legally dropping his last name in 2024 after turning 18.

Angelina's lawyer says she is glad to be done with the long ongoing process. "Frankly, Angelina is exhausted, but she is relieved this one part is over."

He adds that she is "focused on finding peace and healing for their family". Sources also told PEOPLE that Angelina's children supported her during the divorce proceedings and "wanted her to speak up for herself, to defend herself over these years".

Angelina and Brad might have settled their divorce but they are still at loggerheads over French winery Château Miraval. The pair previously co-owned the vineyard.

Angelina sold her share to Tenute del Mondo in 2021, allegedly without Brad's permission and reportedly in breach of a previous agreement they made. He claimed that she sold her share to "inflict harm" on him.
