Held every year on the first Monday in May, the New York Met Gala encourages celebs to pull out all the stops - and that is exactly what happened this year!

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute has held the Met Gala since 1948, and it has become the fashion event of the year.

This extravaganza is the main fundraising effort for the institute and last year reportedly raising more than $12-million. Celebs from around the world gather at this event where tickets are said to cost $30,000 each or $275,000 for a table. Even though these A-listers are forking out major cash for the event, it is an invite-only affair and you must be asked to buy a ticket.

Every year there is a theme associated with the event and even though it is often ignored, this year's 'Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination' exhibition at The Costume Institute proved great inspiration.
