Billy Ray Cyrus and Elizabeth Hurley made their relationship Instagram official over the Easter long weekend.

"Happy Easter," Hurley captioned a picture of Cyrus kissing her on the cheek.

The announcement surprised their fans, as they seem an unlikely pair.

"Wait….what?" one of Hurley's three million followers commented.

Another user wrote, "How many of us were all like, WAIT WHAT when we [opened] the app and saw this?!! Did not see this one coming."

While many people, including Hurley's son Damian, shared well wishes for the new couple, others were less than impressed.

Some went as far as to warn Hurley against the romance. "Is anyone else wondering why she’s not seeing the 🚩🚩🚩?" one person asked.

Another asked: "Wasn’t he engaged to someone else last week?"

While Cyrus was not engaged last week, he was involved in a messy divorce from his ex, Firerose, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges, last year.

The relationship reportedly caused a rift in the Cyrus home with the singer's daughter, Miley Cyrus, and other family members seemingly distancing themselves from the couple.

Cyrus was married to Tish Cyrus from 1993 to 2022.

He married Firerose in October 2023, but by June 2024, the romance was over with the 'Achy Breaky Heart' singer citing “inappropriate marital conduct”.

Cyrus made headlines in January after a bizarre performance at one of President Donald Trump's inauguration celebrations.

Social media users called the 63-year-old's performance an "epic disaster." He appeared to have technical issues and sang off-tune.

"Possibly the cringiest few minutes in entertainment history," one X user said,

Some said the singer looked "far gone". Many also expressed concern for his mental health.

"That was truly a scary experience. Not sure if he was sick or drunk or both. Hope he is ok," one person said

Shortly after the shocking performance, the singer's son Trace Cyrus shared an open letter saying he was "genuinely worried" about him.

"Sadly, the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like, I barely recognise now," he wrote.

"It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you. You may be upset with me for posting this but I really [couldn't] care less at this point.

"Me and the girls have been genuinely worried about you for years but you’ve pushed all of us away," he continued.

"We are all hanging on to memories of the man we once knew & hoping for the day he returns. You’re not healthy Dad & everyone is noticing it... I will continue to pray for you."
