Updated | By Poelano Malema
Bonang Matheba is demanding R500,000 from a podcaster who made defamatory statements about her.
Bonang Matheba is tired of seeing her name dragged in the mud.
In the latest saga, the media personality was accused of introducing drugs to her ex-lover AKA.
Podcaster Rea Gopane, who co-hosts his podcast 'Everything SA Music TV' on YouTube, claimed that TV and radio personality Scoop Makhathini told him that Matheba introduced AKA to cocaine.

“Scoop told us that AKA is on coke, and Bonang is that the one that got him into cocaine. Scoop told us that, bro, after the interview we had him right here at this place,” said Gopane.
Following the podcast, Matheba’s lawyers asked him to apologise for making defamatory statements about their client.
He was asked to issue an apology on various platforms, including YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
However, the podcaster did not issue any apology and this led to Bonang’s lawyer serving him with court papers.
“On Sunday 9 May 2021 you falsely and unlawfully accused Bonang Matheba during a widely published video clip of, inter alia, having introduced AKA (Kieman Jarryd Forbes) to cocaine. within the context of what was being discussed within the video clip this defamatory allegation was exacerbated by the shocking insinuation that the death of AKA’s girlfriend Anele (Nellie) Tembe was thanks to AKA’s alleged use of cocaine, " read the statement.

The lawyers said the allegations were defamatory and hurtful.
“The allegations were defamatory, hurtful and were deliberately intended to humiliate my client and undermine her reputation. The allegations also are , to your knowledge false. Your false utterances are compounded by the very fact that at the time of creating them on a public platform, you knew full well that these utterances would be widely viewed given my client’s high public profile,” read the letter from the lawyers.
They are now demanding that he pays R500,000 in damages within 10 days.
“To this end, I’m instructed to demand from you, payment of the sum of R500,000 within 10 days. Should this sum not be paid within the time prescribed, I even have instructions to issue summons without further notice to you,” reads the letter from the lawyers.
