Brenda Mtambo is the latest celebrity to open up about her struggles with mental health.
Afro-soul and jazz artist Brenda Mtambo has taken to social media to be vulnerable about her mental state.
The singer took to Instagram on Wednesday to share a photo of herself looking glamorous with a huge smile on her face and explaining that the image does not accurately reflect her current mental state.
The singer, who recently performed with US singer Liz Wright at the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, says her mental health is deteriorating.
"My mental health is deteriorating….. I know this is too much information, I am scared not talking is killing me," she wrote on Instagram.
The singer went on to explain that she is dealing with grief which was exacerbated by the loss of her grandmother.
Brenda added that being a public performer makes her healing a challenge because she needs to always show up and put on a front.
"I don’t look like I am sick I know, but I am dying from grief, anxiety and so depressed. I wanted to heal away from the public but I work in public and I have to show up the way I am showing up on these pictures. Loosing my grandmother triggered me and the world feels empty," she wrote on Instagram.
