One of the leading causes of suicide is depression.
South African media personality, Bryce 'DJ Ankletap' Clarke - popularly known as Malume Pompo - has become the latest celebrity to open up about battling with depression.
In an interview on 'Podcast and Chill', the media personality said he has thought about committing suicide in the past.
"I thought about ending my life," he said during the interview.
He added that because he always appears as a happy person to the masses, many people couldn't tell that he was dealing with depression.

Clarke even went as far as to detail how his turning point came about after he planned to take his life in his home.
"This failed attempt cost me R11,000. I ripped the garage door. In that moment I sat and cried for maybe three or four hours. I sat on that floor with my broken garage around me and I sobbed. I realised in that moment that I needed help," he said.
Clarke opened up about how losing his close friends in the industry has made him aware that most people hide their mental health issues.
"So many people around me, so many people in the industry, don't speak about their mental health. I was very close to HHP, I was close to Riky Rick, and I was close to other people who went on to take their own lives."
