Danny K remembers Mandoza

SA musician, Danny K who worked closely with kwaito star, Mandoza says he deserves super star status.
Mandoza died in hospital yesterday after a lengthy battle with brain cancer, and Danny K told Jacaranda FM News that they became friends after working together.
"I've got many, many memories of the man. Professionally, personlly. But the memory that sticks with me is the first time I ever saw Mandoza on stage," Danny K said.
He added that he first encountered the magic of a super star during a stadium show in Port Elizabeth where Mandoza had more than 30 000 fans on their feet, jumping up and down.

"That was Mandoza, the super star and the Mandoza that most of us got to know through his music, but I was lucky enough to get to know the man behind the music," Danny K said.
Mandoza and Danny K toured South Africa together after collaborating on an album, and Danny K said he got to know a very soft spoken, humble man.
"I was very surprised by it because I didn't expect Mandoza to be such a down to earth and humble guy," Danny K said.
Meanhwile Danny K said that no official funeral arrangements have been confirmed yet but that he expects a massive public memorial service.
"I am hearing things and I have no doubt that there will be various ad-hoc, smaller tributes - rightfully so," he said.
The family called a press conference at midday today.
Tributes are continuing to pour in since Mandoza's shock death yesterday.
