"He taught me so much when I was doing my first movie, 9 to 5."
The entertainment industry is mourning the loss of another actor.
'9 to 5' star Dabney Coleman died last week on 16 May 2024 at age 92 in Santa Monica, California, United States.
According to a statement released by the family, the star "took his last earthly breath peacefully and exquisitely".
Dolly took to Instagram to talk about the legend, who was also a friend to her.
"Dabney was a great actor and became a dear friend," she wrote.
The singer and actor spoke about the role Coleman played in her acting career.
"He taught me so much when I was doing my first movie, 9 to 5," she added.
Dolly reminisced about the time they spent together: "He was funny, deep and smart."
She says he will be greatly missed.
"We remained friends through the years and I miss him greatly as many people will."

Dabney featured in many films during his career.
He won a Golden Globe for 'The Slap Maxwell Story'.
Another milestone in his career came when he won an Emmy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1987's 'Sworn to Silence'.
Dabney is not the only friend Dolly has lost this year.
In February, she mourned the death of Toby Keith.
"It's always hard when we lose our brothers and sisters in country music. Toby Keith was one of the greats in every way. He will be missed but his music and legacy live on," she wrote on Instagram.
