EFF calls for boycott of SATY awards
Updated | By Nonjabulo Mgabadeli
Just a day after ANN 7 announced that Jeniffer Lopez would be the second international act to perform at their South African of The Year Awards alongside Robin Thicke, the EFF stopped the announcement celebrations dead in their tracks.

This after the political party released a statement requesting for celebrities to not attend or support the event.
The reason behind their request stems from the political parties belief that the Gupta's who own the news station have no moral grounds on which to host the event. (Yikes!)
Parts of the statement read:
"The EFF notes that the criminal syndicate of the Guptas are still trying to legitimise their criminal activities in South Africa by hosting a seemingly innocent award ceremony celebrating achieved South Africans. We believe this criminal syndicate has no moral ground on which to host such an event when on the other hand they're stealing billions from the coffers of the country."

The party then requested for the likes of Somizi, Bonang Matheba, Robert Marawa and more to boycott the awards show.
“We call on Bonang Matheba‚ Somizi Mhlongo‚ Robert Marawa‚ Big Nuz and many others to show leadership in a time when the arts and culture space is lacking it and symbolically withdraw their participation from this criminal event," the statement read.
