Ekurhuleni send-off for Thandi Klaasen

The City of Ekurhuleni will pay tribute to the late singer and songwriter, Thandi Klaasen, during a memorial service at the Germiston City Hall today.

Klaasen passed on the 15th of January after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
On the 20th of January 2017 the City of Ekhuruleni passed a resolution that Klaasen receive a public funeral
"The decision was taken to afford Klaasen a civi funeral in order to give her a befitting send off as an immense contributor towards building social cohesion in her society," the city says in a statement.
The city also confirmed that the Gauteng premier, David Makhura, Executive Mayor, Mzwandile Masina as well as representatives from the Ministry of Arts and Culture will be among the dignitaries to grace the occasion.

"The City of Ekurhuleni wishes to advise members of the public that there will be road closures in the vicinity of the Germiston CBD from 05:00am until 18h00," the statement read.
Roads which will be affected are:
- The intersection of Lambert and Queen
- Lambert and President and
- President and Spilsbury
