How Boity helped Lady Du "blow up"
Updated | By Poelano Malema
Lady Du says it took working with Boity for the world to recognise that she is "actually talented".
Lady Du is a household name in South Africa today.
The star has attributed her success to Boity and two other South African artists.
In an Instagram post, the 'Levora' hitmaker thanked Boity, Bash Vision, and Naak Musiq for giving her a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity years ago which helped her career blossom.
Sharing a video of an episode from Boity’s reality show, Lady Du said the video serves as a memory.
“Here are the people that deserve credit for my blow up, people that gave me a platform when no one else believed in me,” wrote Lady Du.
She added that she had previously worked with artists that didn’t want to credit her for her work.
“I’ve been writing songs for a lot of artists, serious hit songs, if I can tell you, you’d pass out, but they kept quiet, and that’s fine,” she wrote.

However, things changed when she began working with Boity as her vocal coach.
“ @iamnaakmusiq @bashvision @boity hired me as a vocal coach and song writer for Boity,” she wrote.
Her session with Boity was televised and Lady Du says since then her career has spiked.
“After this episode I had soo many people call me for song writing, and that’s when people noticed I’m actually talented.”
She went on to thank Boity, Bash Vision, and Naak.
“Today I’d like to thank you guys for this. It was on this day that my career planted a fruitful seed. I was already on my journey y’all boosted the girl. Forever grateful,” she wrote.
The star also revealed that the career boost came at a time when she was feeling depressed.
“This was the toughest year of my life. I was going through a lot. I picked myself up and gave my best. I remember calling Naak telling him I was depressed, he helped out. Ngisa bonga na today,” she wrote.
