Updated | By MornéJK
South African icon Johnny Clegg will be embarking on his final word tour in July.
After nearly 40 years in the industry, one of South Africa's most remarkable musicians will be saying goodbye to his fans on "The Final Journey."
Clegg, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2015 but continued to tour while receiving chemotherapy, is completing his new album and writing his autobiography while in remission.
"This will be my final set of public performances for my fans in SA and around the world," he says.
According to his agent, Clegg will not only play four concerts in South Africa, but will also perform in London and Dubai.
A pioneer in the local music scene, Clegg found a way to bridge the racial gap at a time of cultural and racial segregation in South Africa.
"I am immensely excited to be able to bring to them an autobiographical, audio-visual and intimate account of my life through my music and The Dance," Clegg says.
The iconic South African artist will kick off his tour in Cape Town on the 1st of July.
Johnny Clegg: The Final Journey World Tour first phase dates:
1st July - Grandwest Arena, Cape Town
7th and 8th July - Montecasino, Johannesburg
29th July - Durban ICC Arena, Durban
19th August - Eventim Apollo, London
20th September - Dubai Opera, Dubai
