For decades, music has been used to unite people and address some of the social ills.

Multi-award-winning artist Jamela Vuma, aka J Ross, along with his wife Megan, hopes to use his gift as a musician to bring hope to one of Pretoria's townships, Mamelodi.

The star, who has previously opened up about his struggles with fame and drug addiction, says his upcoming event, Kasi Worship, will bring transformation to the community that is facing a big problem with substance abuse.

“Our aim this year is to bring hope, healing, and transformation to Mamelodi,” says the event organisers.

Vuma says show attendees will have access to resources and information on community service initiatives aimed at combating poverty and drug addiction.

The event will also feature the likes of Retief Burger and the popular acapella group Abathandwa.

'This emphasis on community engagement is central to the concert’s vision of creating lasting, meaningful change', reads a statement from the organisers.

The multi-internationally award-winning singer and actor says the event, which is scheduled to take place on 30 November at  Moretele Park, aims to attract 15,000 attendees.

“This isn’t just a concert; it’s a movement. Our hope is that attendees will leave feeling spiritually refreshed and inspired to serve their communities.”
