eNCA has come under fire after it reported that singer Kelly Khumalo died instead of Winnie Khumalo.

In a news clip posted on Khumalo's Instagram page, presenter Shahan Ramkissoon can be heard saying: "If you are just joining us, our breaking news story is that musician Kelly Khumalo has passed away at the age of 51. We will speak to her colleagues in a short while."

Following the report, Kelly took to Instagram to slam the broadcaster, accusing it of hating her.

"@encanews you may hate me or even think very less of me, however this is very reckless, ignorant and disrespectful not only to me but to those who love and care about me especially my kids. PUT SOME RESPECT ON MY NAME," she wrote.

The news anchor has since apologised.

He took to Instagram Stories to share a clip of his apology, which was broadcast shortly after he made the mistake.

"A correction on what I said earlier. It is Winnie Khumalo who passed away at the age of 51, not Kelly Khumalo. I apologise for that error," he says in the video.

“Apologies for the mistake @kellykhumaloza. This correction and apology was made on air,” he captioned his post.
