Listen to Caspper Nyovest’s latest track: Too Legit
Updated | By Kay Tatyana Selisho
South African rapper Cassper Nyovest took a chance and collaborated with an unknown, young producer to create a new track called 'Too legit.'
If MC Hammer is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the hook to Cassper Nyovest’s new track ‘Too Legit,’ just know that you’re probably too old to enjoy the high-energy single.
Borrowing from a phrase first made popular by Hammer in his 1991 single, Nyovest spends nearly 5 minutes letting us know that he’s “too legit to quit.”
The rapper had initially promised to release the track last Friday but only dropped it earlier today due to not being happy with the final mix. I’m guessing he just pushed it back so as not to take any shine away from his label mates who dropped the video for Ragga Ragga on Friday (unlike SOME other rappers - *not saying any names*).
The catchy beat (produced by a relatively unknown producer) is the only thing “Too Legit” about the track. However, it is the type of trap beat that you’d find yourself unintentionally dancing to if it’s played loud enough at a party, despite the lyrics/screaming.
The producer of the track goes by the clever moniker ‘Looney on a Tune’ and Nyovest claims to have come across the beat after taking a chance and listening to the work that they young producer had sent him.
Fans seem to be enjoying the track however, with many claiming to already have it on repeat.
You can listen to Caspper Nyovest’s ‘Too Legit’ here and decide for yourself. I can already see young hype beasts getting down to the track in hotspots such as Braamfontein, Hatfield and Rosebank.
