The Afrikaans film, Mignon Mossie Van Wyk has been selected for screening at the World Premieres Film Festival to be held in the Philippines from 29 June – 10 July 2016.
Mignon Mossie van Wyk has been selected to be part of the Intercontinental section of the 2016 WPFF and will compete for the “Intercontinental Prize for Best Film” accolade.
This is a big honour for Phoenix Films and Valhalla Productions, as Mignon Mossie van Wyk is the first film by Phoenix Films to be accepted for such an acclaimed International Festival.
More recently Mignon Mossie van Wyk has been selected to be part of the South African Karoo Film Fest to be held in Prince Albert in June 2016.
Synopsis:
Riding onto the soft, mature voice of Luna van Wyk we are dropped into the world of her older sister, Mignon “Mossie” van Wyk.
An older Luna, whose voice we only ever hear, takes us back to her youth days specifically her sister, Mossie’s, final year at school. Mossie, the name given to Mignon by her close friend Adriaan when they were still only children, means little sparrow in Afrikaans.
Mossie is a traveller at heart who dreams of seeing the world. She longs for unconditional love and to be held tightly, like a little bird, when life knocks her down.
