Lupita Nyong'o wants filmmakers to produce more movies about diversity.
The 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' actress has urged directors and writers to produce work that is "more reflective of the world we live in".
Speaking in support of Ryan Murphy's Half campaign, which aims to increase the number of women directors or those from minority backgrounds, she told the Today Show: "I think what we are asking for is really for more stories to be told, for inclusion in the stories that are told. It's good for all of us when we hear a diverse number of stories and are able to experience more diversity. It's more reflective of the world we live in.
"I think that's what we ultimately want - is for a diversity of stories to be told. I feel really grateful to be in the position that I find myself where I can use the little weight I have to get stories that I feel are untold - or yet to be told - made."
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old star previously revealed she was "disappointed" that no black actors or actresses were included in the nominations for this year's Academy Awards.
She shared: "I am disappointed by the lack of inclusion in this year's Academy Awards nominations. It has me thinking about unconscious prejudice and what merits prestige in our culture.
"The Awards should not dictate the terms of art in our modern society, but rather be a diverse reflection of the best of what our art has has to offer today. I stand with my peers who are calling for change in expanding the stories that are told and recognition of the people who tell them."
