Makhadzi is going through a rough time financially.

The singer told 'Podcast and Chill' that all her money has been going towards paying the South African Revenue Service (SARS).

As a result, Makhadzi had to borrow money from a loan shark to attend the 19th Annual BET Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, California.

She told 'Podcast and Chill' that her financial struggles are not a secret.

"I’m going through a lot. It’s not a secret, I was in the newspapers I think last year somewhere, I don’t know who sold me out. I feel like this Sars thing is like someone’s going to spice you and so boom, boom, boom," she said.

Last year, Sunday World reported the 'Matorokisi' hitmaker allegedly owed SARS R6.6-million. The amount was later decreased to R2.7-million.

“So every money that I get monthly, I am paying Sars, so I end up not having money for myself," she said.

She said she had to turn to a loan shark in order to fly to California.

“So for me to come here, I had to go to a loan shark... So they had to borrow money for me so that I can (fly) business class and come here,” she said.

However, the superstar said she doesn't mind suffering for the sake of her career.

“Because I believe in myself and my career, I’m like, let me just do everything and come here,” she added.

The singer said that although BET caters for accommodation, it doesn't cover flights.

“They just chose you, and like I say, choosing you, it means a lot, but for you to come here, it’s up to you, but everything they will cater for you... but flights, they can’t fly you,” she said.
