Minister Gayton McKenzie rallies behind Makhadzi

The Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, has called Makhadzi 'one of our biggest stars in the world' and says he will support her one-woman show in December.

The Minister of Sports, Arts, and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, will attend Makhadzi's 'One Woman's Show'! 

He made the announcement on X in response to Makhadzi revealing the two acts that will be joining her for the show. 

"The wait is over... 21st December Peter Mokaba Stadium for One Woman Show Line Up is Loaded. First let me introduce you to my queens Nkosazana Daughter and Vocalist Kharishma. Are we allowed to say #FillUpPeterMokabaStadium?" Makhadzi wrote. 

Gayton retweeted the post and said he would be attending the show. 

"I will be there," he wrote. 

The minister also announced that he would buy two hundred tickets for the show. 

"Will buy 200 tickets for those that wants to accompany me to Peter Mokaba to see one of our most biggest stars in the world," he wrote.

Earlier this week, Makhadzi came under fire for seemingly comparing herself to Chris Brown. 

Makhadzi questioned why tickets for Chris Brown's South African show sold out within hours while she takes years to fill a stadium.

"South Africa KE MOVIE SO NNA I MUST TAKE 10 years to sell out PETER MOKABA STADIUM 🏟️ TICKETS," she wrote on X. 

The 'Matorokisi' hitmaker asked people to buy her tickets. 

Makhadzi is hosting her One Woman Show at Peter Mokaba Stadium on December 21. 

In July, the 28-year-old won the 'Viewer’s Choice: Best New International Act' award at the Black Entertainment Television (BET) Awards.

In September 2023, Makhadzi celebrated being on a Times Square billboard in New York. 

Makhadzi took to X to talk about how it has always been her dream to feature on a Times Square billboard. 

"Finally my dream came true," she wrote on X.

She went on to thank her fans for the immense support she has been receiving.

"Your support is magic. My life is a movie. From Performing in a streets to NEWYORK CITY TIMES SQUARE BILLBOARDS. Congratulations to my self," she wrote on X.
