Miss SA raises thousands for Knysna relief fund
Updated | By MornéJK
Miss South Africa Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters has raised more than R500 000 for the Knysna/Garden Route Relief initiative.
Nel-Peters, who is from Sedgefield in the Western Cape, launched the fund to assist those who have lost everything in the devastating fires along the Garden Route.
"I thank all South Africans for giving so generously. Every bit helps and I am proud of how ordinary people have rallied around and assisted those who have been affected," she says.
She is also urging people to continue with donations, no matter how small.
All funds collected will be used by the Sedgefield Lions to buy much needed supplies, including water, tinned food, baby food, bread, blankets, toiletries and pet food.
The items will then be distributed across the Garden Route to those in need.
