Miss SA reacts to disposable glove saga
Updated | By MorneJK
Miss South Africa, Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters had to defend herself against social media users after a picture of her wearing gloves while handing out food created a stir.

Social media users questioned the use of gloves while Nel-Peters served a hot meal to about 300 people in Soweto earlier this week.
She took to social media to explain that all volunteers were required to wear gloves while serving food.
Meanwhile the Miss SA office released a statement saying all volunteers, including Demi-Leigh, wore disposable sanitary gloves while working with the food and handing it out.
“It is standard hygiene practice that ready-to-eat food be prepared and served without bare hand contact,” the statement read.
According to the statement Demi was asked to pose for photos while handing out food.
“She did not wear disposable gloves throughout the entire visit. She was also involved in handing out blankets to those who attended,” the Miss SA office says.
To everyone asking about the gloves, I truly hope that you'll hear my heart and understand that it came from a place of wanting to do good. pic.twitter.com/Pl5amM2gEM
