The cast and crew of Disney's Queen of Katwe is in South Africa for the premiere of the much anticipated Disney movie, Queen of Katwe.
Queen of Katwe is based on the true life of Phiona Mutesi, a chess prodigy from Uganda, who becomes an international champion under the mentorship of Robert Katende.
The film, which was shot in Katwe, Kampala and Johannesburg is based on the vibrant true story of a young girl from the streets of Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess.
As a result of the support she receives from her family and community she is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.
