Paul Simon loses hearing in left ear
"Quite suddenly, I lost most of the hearing in my left ear, and nobody has an explanation for it."
Paul Simon might not be able to do public performances anymore. This is due to hearing loss he recently experienced.
“Quite suddenly I lost most of the hearing in my left ear," Paul told The Times.
According to a report by Rolling Stone, the hearing loss happened when he was writing his latest album, 'Seven Psalms'.

The Grammy-winning artist says "nobody has an explanation" for his sudden loss of hearing.
Unfortunately, he says this has resulted in "everything" becoming "more difficult".
He added that he initially thought the health problem would go away.
“My reaction to that was frustration and annoyance; not quite anger yet, because I thought it would pass, it would repair itself,” he said.
However, the problem is continuing.

He also spoke about some of the challenges he faces as a performer.
“The songs of mine that I don’t want to sing live, I don’t sing them,” the singer said.
“Sometimes there are songs that I like and then at a certain point in a tour, I’ll say, ‘What the fu*k are you doing, Paul?’”
He said that moment happened “quite often" while performing 'You Can Call Me Al'.
“I’d think, ‘What are you doing? You’re like a Paul Simon cover band. You should get off the road, go home.’”
Paul says his hearing problem might result in him retiring. He is currently 81 years old and has been singing since the 1950s.
