Selena Gomez asks people to be kinder to Hailey Bieber
Updated | By Tamlyn Canham
Hailey says "love will always be bigger than hate" after reaching out to Selena.
Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber's alleged feud turned ugly in 2023 following a series of posts that were "misconstrued" on social media.
Things got so bad that Hailey - who is married to Selena's ex-boyfriend, Justin Bieber - started receiving death threats after being accused of being a bully.
Selena, who recently became the first woman to reach 400 million followers on Instagram, says Hailey contacted her about the threats.
"Hailey Bieber reached out to me and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity. This isn't what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying," the 30-year-old wrote on her Instagram Story.
She added: "I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop."

Hailey also took to her Instagram Story to address the drama.
"I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I. The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this which is extremely harmful," she wrote.
The 26-year-old added that the negativity on social media creates "extreme division instead of bringing people together."
Hailey has been accused of shading Selena on several occasions, but she appears to deny the accusations.
"Things can always be taken out of context or construed differently than they were intended. We all need to be more thoughtful about what we post and what we say, including myself. In the end. I believe love will always be bigger than hate and negativity, and there is always an opportunity to see each other with more empathy and compassion," she concluded.

Things escalated when Hailey and Kylie Jenner shared a "shady" picture of their eyebrows.
Kylie posted the image shortly after Selena revealed that she had accidentally over laminated her eyebrows.
Social media users did not think it was a coincidence.
Kylie - who lost her 'Queen of Instagram' title to Selena - denied her eyebrow post with Hailey was directed at the 'Come & Get It' singer.

But it looks like the drama is finally coming to an end. Selena and Hailey recently started following each other on Instagram.
While they are unlikely to become best friends, they are doing what they can to distance themselves from the online hate.
