Shawn Mendes opened up about the current status of his relationship with Camila Cabello. The pair dated from 2019 to 2021, and rekindled their romance in 2023, but broke up again after a few months.

Shawn spoke about his relationship with the 'Shameless' singer on the Jay Shetty Podcast in September. He said they are “preserving [their] private little fire of love for each other” despite breaking up in 2023.

On 1 October, one X user shared their thoughts on the interview: "They [Shawn and Camila] don't play about each other."

The 'Stitches' hitmaker responded to the user, saying: "No, we don't."

However, the singer explained that his explanation "came from a place of being a little annoyed with all the projection over the last few months about us".

Another fan jumped into the conversation and commented: "I feel like you need to clarify what you meant with your last tweet just so the general public and Camila's fandom don't take your words and make them into something you might not have intended, does that make sense?"

"Here we go i can do that ♥️. I guess to be honest it came from a place of being a little annoyed with all the projection over the last few months about us. I’m usually pretty good at just watching all the “noise” go by but lately it’s been kinda bugging me 🤷🏻‍♂️ feeling human I guess," Shawn commented on X.

Shawn said he knows his words might be taken out of context.

"Part of me knows quoting a tweet and saying that is gunna start a little spin up and i guess to be honest part of me just wanted to address it and actually have a real honest relationship with you guys about how it feels from my side," he wrote.

"Pretty intimidating to come online and be honest and vulnerable considering how quickly our words can be twisted and used against us.

"All the rest is just noise."
