Taylor Swift's funny reaction to Selena Gomez's engagement
Selena Gomez is going to be a missus, and no one is more excited than her bestie Taylor Swift.
Taylor Swift has shared a hilarious reaction to the news that her best friend, Selena Gomez, is engaged.
Selena revealed on Thursday that she is engaged to her music producer boyfriend Benny Blanco. They worked together on her 2023 song, 'Single Soon'.
Several months after the track was released, they confirmed they were dating.
"Forever begins now..." Selena captioned a picture of her marquise-cut diamond engagement ring. According to several reports, the eight-carat ring likely cost around $1 million (R17,7 million).
It appears that Benny proposed during a romantic picnic. Selena included a picture in her post that showed her sitting on a picnic blanket while admiring her ring.
Several of the 32-year-old singer's famous friends, including Taylor Swift, flooded the comments section with messages of congratulations.
"Yes, I will be the flower girl," Taylor teased. Her comment was liked over 800, 000 times.
'Emily in Paris' star Lily Collins also shared a sweet message.
"Ahhhhhhhh yes yes yes!! Best news ever. Couldn’t be more happy for you both," she wrote. However, the best comment came from her new fiancé.
"Hey wait… that’s my wife," Benny said.
Selena, who previously dated Justin Bieber and The Weeknd, was single for five years before she started dating Benny.
She was content with the single life and "really got used to it".
"A lot of people are afraid of being alone and I probably tortured myself in my head for like two years being alone, and then I kind of accepted it. Then I came up with my plan, which was I was going to adopt at 35 if I had not met anyone," the singer told TIME magazine in May.
Selena, who was diagnosed with lupus in 2013, later revealed that she could not carry her own children as she has a lot of medical issues that would put her and the baby's lives in jeopardy.
However, she won't let that stop her from having a child one day.
"It’s not necessarily the way I envisioned it. I thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. [But] I’m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me," she told Vanity Fair in September.
Regardless of which way Selena decides to grow her family, we are confident that she will be a great wife and mother.
