"Too modern" Black Coffee misses out on chance to work with superstar
Updated | By MornéJK
Twitter was ablaze on Tuesday after the news that DJ Black Coffee was no longer working with international star, Usher, because he thought that Black Coffee was "too modern" to be African.
Speaking during a radio interview, Coffee revealed how he lost out on the opportunity to collaborate with Usher, because the US hit maker thought his sound was "too modern".
In a video shared by a Twitter user named Pholoho Selebano, Coffee chronicles how he met with Usher's manager while he was in New York recently - which led to a phone call between the two musicians.

According to Black Coffee he sent a song to Usher. But a day later the superstar got back to him, saying the song was modern and that he wanted something "a bit more African".
"I don't know what Africa is to him, but to me it's something different. We're not in the jungle right now," said Coffee.
"Africa is a totally different place.
"For other people, they wanna hear the bongos and the congas in the music and I'm cool to do that but only if it fits," Black Coffee said.
