In a telephonic interview Trevor told Jacaranda FM News that he will be traveling to South America - something he has always wanted to do.

"Ah man, I wish I can go home this Christmas but unfortunately I am doing a bit of traveling and South America has always been on my bucket list."

But he says he misses the country of his birth.

"I miss speaking my languages. Wherever I go in the world and I hear someone speaking Zulu, I immediately pay attention. Or Afrikaans. I miss our people," Trevor said.

He recently released his first book "Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood" and says it is not a book about fame but rather a book about his relationship with his mother.

"At the heart of the story is the relationship between my mom and I. I grew up at an age where I got to see the transition from an apartheid South Africa to a new South Africa," Trevor added.

He says the biggest reason why he penned the book is because he loves sharing stories - especially about his life.

"I want people to realise that there is always hope. People don't know the struggles I faced getting to where I am today and I want to share that with them," he said.

And does Trevor think South Africans are now dealing with the past?

"It is a very difficult past and we need to find that balance. On one hand, you should not dwell in the past and live and blame the past but it is not fair for people not no acknowledge that past. There is a level of self-responsibility that we need to take in making our lives better," Trevor said.

He says he's optimistic about the country's future.

"We as a people need to come together. Yes we are facing challenges but as a country we have an amazing opportunity to grow," he said.
