Trevor Noah to host MTV Africa Music Awards

MTV Base Africa confirmed that the host of the Daily Show, Trevor Noah will be hosting the prestigious MTV Africa Musc Awards next month.

According to MTV's twitter handle, Noah will act as host of the awards that will, for the first time, be hosted at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg.
The list of nominees for the MTV MAMAs will be announced during a glitzy function at Constitutional Hill in Braamfontein on Wednesday evening.
According to the MAMAs' official website it recognises and rewards musicians and achievers who have made the most impact on African music and youth culture over the previous year.

"The definitive annual celebration of African and international talent and achievement will feature stunning performances from African and international artists along with the show's signature cross-genre and cross-border collaborations," the website says.

Senior Vice President & Managing Director of Viacom International Media Networks, Alex Okosi said: "Trevor Noah is an outstanding entertainer, and testament to the amazing talent that Africa has to offer the world.
"To have him host the MAMA, our annual celebration of Africa music, creativity and achievement, is a powerful and inspiring message. We are delighted that our first ever show in Johannesburg will be presented by one of the city's most loved and admired personalities."
There has been much speculation about who will host the MAMAs with names like Somizi Mhlongo as well as Bonang Matheba that were cited as favourites.
The 2016 MTV MAMAs will take place at the Ticketpro Dome in Johannesburg on the 22nd of October.
