Vera Ephraim: "It's time for Africa to tell our stories"
Updated | By MorneJK
Nigerian actress, Vera Ephraim says the time has come for the film industry to come together and tell truly African stories.
Vera Ephraim is a Nigerian actress who was in South Africa last week for the premier of the highly anticipated Afrikaans movie, Sink.
She told Jacatainment's MorneJK that it is time for Africa to shine on the silver screen.
"The only problem is funding and the fact that some movie makers are afraid to tell stories that have a heavy message," she said.
Ephraim emphasised that even thought there is room for romantic comedies, movie goers are looking for films with more substance, like Sink.
"We shouldn't be scared to touch on subjects that are labelled taboo - like politics. We have a social responsibility to tell stories in a transparent way," she said.
