The Walt Disney Company has finally launched its popular Disney+ streaming service in South Africa.
The service offers Disney fans access to more than 1000 films, over 1500 series and a slate of 200 exclusive originals from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, National Geographic as well as general entertainment from Star.
The official launch was held at Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Johannesburg on Wednesday.
The National Geographic catalogue – including documentaries and series will also be available on the platform.
The group’s senior vice-president and general manager for Africa Christine Service says DSTV users will also have access to Disney+ content.
This was made possible through a partnership with the MultiChoice Group.
“It has been quite a journey getting here, but it was so exciting to see South Africans downloading the app and taking their first stream. Our partners at DSTV have been hard at work, creating amazing and attractive offers for DSTV subscribers to also access Disney+.
“We are really excited about the partnership and carrying it forward into the future.”
