Nominations for the 89th Academy Awards will be announced at 15:15 South African time with no major upsets or surprises expected.
The front runner is expected to be the modern musical romance, La La Land that has swept movie goers off their feet.
The movie stars Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling who are expected to be among the nominees and while the question is not if the movie will get top honors, but how many nominations it will receive.
The current record is 14 nominations and is held by the Titanic.
Winners will be announced in Los Angeles on the 26th of February.
