Police in Gauteng have arrested 65 suspects in connection with the gruesome gang rape of eight women in Krugersdorp, west of Johannesburg.
The suspects were arrested in an anti-crime blitz on Friday.
The women were attacked at a mining dump in West Village on Thursday where a production company crew was shooting a music video.
The suspects robbed everyone of their belongings before fleeing the scene.
Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says two suspects were fatally shot after allegedly pointing firearms during police operations.
The 65 suspects were also charged for contravention of the Immigration Act.
Muridili says the police recovered two unlicensed firearms, explosives, as well as other items that belong to the victims.
"The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit are investigating 32 counts of rape following the rape of the eight women as well as a case of armed robbery.”
