ActionSA welcomes Batohi’s review of decision to withdraw charges against Kodwa
Updated | By Jacaranda FM
Action SA has welcomed the decision by the national director of public prosecution, Shamila Batohi’s decision to review the corruption charges against former sport, arts and culture Zizi Kodwa and businessman Jehan MacKay.
Batohi announced her decision, following Gauteng's Director of Public Prosecutions, Andrew Chauke’s verdict, to withdraw corruption charges against Kodwa and Mackay.
The African National Congress, meanwhile, said in a statement it welcomed the decision by Chauke, further stressing the importance of its step-aside rule in the renewal project within the party.
Kodwa resigned from his position as minister, in line with the ANC’s step-aside rule, moments after his first court appearance in June this year.
The ANC is yet to formally comment on the NDPP’s decision to review the withdrawal of charges against Kodwa and Mackay.
