Agri SA furious over inaccurate reporting by police
Updated | By Nathan Daniels
Agricultural body Agri SA has labelled the inaccurate reporting by Gauteng police in the Krugersdorp farmworker murder case as unacceptable.

It says the claims merely serves to perpetuate the negative stereotype of farmers.
Initial reports alleged a farmer had shot and killed a farmworker. Police however later confirmed that a security officer had allegedly pulled the trigger.
Agri SA's Kobus Breytenbach says the police's negligence tarnished the image of farmers.

"People say in the media and on social media that 'black people [are] being killed by white farmers' and that the incident was racially-motivated. This type of information results in the polarisation of communities and is not conducive to nation-building."
Gauteng provincial police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters says an internal probe is currently underway to determine how the police made the mistake.
"It appears initially that it is a miss-communication between our members," says Peters.
The security officer has already appeared in the Krugersdorp Magistrate's Court.
