AKA releases statement after Anele Tembe’s passing

Rapper and musician AKA whose real name is Kiernan Forbes - has spoken out for the first time since the death of his fiancé, Anele Nellie Tembe.
Tembe fell to her death over a week ago at the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town, where she and AKA had been staying.
She was found lying naked on the ground after she jumped to her death.
In the statement released by AKA on Friday, he says that losing Anele “feels like a mountain to climb”.

“I miss Anele so much, and I’m heartbroken at the unfulfilled life we had planned together.
“The tragic loss of Anele has taken a great toll on me, emotionally and psychologically. Insinuations and innuendos made on my personhood have made it even more difficult to process and the strain our families have taken is unspeakable – which is why at this time I choose to retreat to honour my journey, praying that moments of stillness may bring me closer to some clarity.”
